Getting started
What gear do I need to start training?
For the study of broadsword/backsword we suggest that students gain the following equipment (with examples from various suppliers):
- You don’t need to bring any equipment to your first class.
- A pair of gardening Riggers gloves and a water bottle are recommended.
- We attempt to have enough loaner gear for beginners to come and try a class for free.
- The new student can use club equipment until he/she purchases their own.
- HEMA equipment tends to be expensive and student should seek advice from their club provost for gear recommendations
